What is the difference between a slam lock and a deadlock?
A slam lock automatically engages when the door is closed, requiring a key to re-open, useful for delivery drivers making frequent stops. A deadlock is an additional manual lock fitted alongside the factory lock, providing a second locking point that must be separately unlocked.
Does van security affect my insurance?
In most cases fitting approved security upgrades will reduce your van insurance premium. Check with your insurer as many specifically ask about deadlocks and slam locks when quoting and some require them for full cover.
How long does van security fitting take?
Most van security installations take 1 to 3 hours depending on the number of doors and products fitted. We carry stock for common van makes and can often complete the job on the same day.
Can all doors on my van be fitted with deadlocks?
Yes. We can fit deadlocks to driver and passenger doors, sliding side doors, and rear barn doors. We will assess your van and recommend the best combination for your usage and storage needs.
Can the slam locks be keyed the same as my existing van key?
In most cases no. The steering lock repair is separate from key programming. However, if the fault was caused by an ECU or immobiliser issue, additional key work may be needed and we will advise after diagnosis.
